Chicago World's Fair of 1933 to 1934
Coins, Tokens, and Items
The Chicago Exposition was held on Northerly Island, a man-made peninsula. My mother lived in Chicago then and attended the fair several times. Some of these items were saved by her or her mother.

Form letter sold at the fair:

This two-page form letter was apparently sold at the fair for those who did not want to compose their own letters. It included hand-drawn illustrations of scenes from the fair. This one had a date of October 9 on it, and had been folded. It was mailed by one of my relatives to another relative.

LOG OF TRIP TO THE CHICAGO 1934 WORLD'S FAIR
(C) MCMXXXIV

Hello There!
Say! I was never so surprised in all my life.
I never thought anything made by man could be done so magnificently well.
I came here expecting to find a big carnival.
I remained to take my hat off to the "Windy City."
If I didn't take it off, it would probably have blown off anyway.

But of the real marvels that astonish one at the things accomplished, one has to look at the fields in which Science treads. The tremendous things that are shown in the HALL OF SCIENCE seem hardly real. Well again might one say truth is stranger than fiction. One could spend all summer just studying the scientific miracles performed here in the Hall of Science and consider his trip to the fair time well spent.
