Oval Token with Egyptian Markings

This little item was manufactured early in the 20th century. They were made to cash in on the Egyptian Revival fad of the early 1900's. They are small, 7/8 x 1-1/4 inches (22 mm x 31 mm), and made of bronze or copper.

The designs and figures are copied from ancient Egyptian scarab beetle carvings. Many of the figures can be found on real Egyptian scarabs. The figures are similar to hieroglyphs. Who manufactured these items is unknown.

Reportedly museums with Egyptian-themed exhibits would hand them out as souvenirs or use them as admission tickets.

These items are hard to identify as they have only figures on them and no text.
