The 1943 French film "Carnival of Sinners" also known as "La Main du diable" or "The Devil's Hand" is a horror fantasy film about unsuccessful artist Roland Brissot (Pierre Fresnay) who purchases a supernatural talisman (a human hand) which will grant him success.

The price is one "sou", a French slang term for 1/20 of a French franc or 5 centimes, and he must sell it before he dies or he will be condemmed.

When he purchases the talisman he puts the purchase price of a five centimes coin onto a table.
