"Alfred Hitchcock Presents" was a crime-mystery series which ran on the CBS Television network from 1955 to 1962. Alfred Hitchcock, the British film producer and director, would introduce each episode with a humorous skit.

This episode is titled "Man from the South" and was first broadcast on January 3, 1960.

A man (Steve McQueen) tries to pick up a woman (Neile Adams). He brags that his cigarette lighter 'never misses' or always produces a flame.

A little man Carlos (Peter Lorre) offers to bet Steve that if his lighter lights ten times in a row then Carlos will pay Steve $1000. If the lighter fails then Carlos will collect something from Steve.

Neile tells Steve that the bet is silly and tries to persuade Steve to drop the bet.

At one point Neile puts some personal items including lipstick and a makeup kit on a table along with two dimes and a quarter.
