Cross pattée within inner dot border, RICARDVS REX (King Richard)
Reverse:
No image, PIC/TAVIE/NSIS (Poitou) in three lines across field, pellet above
Struck: Melle (Deux-Sèvres) mint
 
Richard I "The Lionhearted" did not strike any coins for England.
He was also the Duke of Aquitaine and Count of Poitou (Poitiers).

Reverse:
Long cross with three pellets in each angle, IOH ON SEINTED (John of Saint Edmunds)
Struck: Bury St. Edmunds mint, Moneyer Ioh (John)
 
Edward was on a Crusade in 1272 when his father Henry III died and for several years
England issued coins with his father's name Henry III on them.

Edward VI 3rd period; Fine silver issue
In 1551 the silver standard was restored from about 0.250 silver to the normal 0.925 "sterling" silver.
